The Top Seven Reasons to Crit Lit

Fri Feb 1, 2008, 1:32 AM
:bulletpurple: Carefully critiquing writings makes you a better writer.

:bulletpurple: Carefully critiquing writings makes you a better reader, so you'll get more out of your readings.

:bulletpurple: Being a better reader and getting more out of your reading is good for your grade in English classes and makes you sound smarter when discussing literature.

:bulletpurple: The more critique you give, the more you get, even from people you haven’t critiqued. I don’t know why this seems to work, but it does.

:bulletpurple: As long as you’re not downright rude and can back up what you say, you can tear into a person’s work—and etiquette dictates they thank you!

:bulletpurple: Internet prestige!

:bulletpurple: Prizes! We don't have a lot of entries, which means more chances of you winning something!

How to Crit:

Read a piece of writing.

Give your opinion on what you think is good about the piece, what you think is bad about the piece, and why.

Easier than pi!

I think that it's giving your opinion & backing it up even if a sentence short is far more valuable than copying someone something says or throwing down clichés & un-heartfelt words, it’s like my English teacher used to always say BAN words nice & bad they’re meaningless!
